Aspire Discover Flourish

A school family rooted in God's love.

Learning Outside the Classroom

Forest School is a child-centered inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

At Crowton, we recognise the importance of our learning being linked to outdoor learning. Our children learn through real life experiences in our Forest School, where trained practitioners nurture learner-led exploration and discovery. We are extremely fortunate to have an outdoor classroom where our children can enjoy outdoor learning come rain or come shine.

What is our vision for Forest School at Crowton?

  • To nurture our children's love of, and appreciation for, God's creation

  • To develop children's understanding of stewardship

  • To provide opportunities for children to develop and have fun in a safe and stimulation environment

  • To facilitate children's understanding of risk taking, choice making and ownership of their own learning

Learning Outside the Classroom

We place high value on enabling children to get outside and experience their learning in a natural environment. Forest School is an inspirational learning journey which offers all learners opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experience in our outdoor environment. Our Forest School also links with our spirituality and we spend time connecting with the nature around us and learning valuable ways to calm and ground ourselves when needed. These techniques support children's mental and physical health both inside and outside of the classroom.
