Sports and Sports Premium
What is Sports Premium?
The Government provides funding to schools on an annual basis to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. The funding is being jointly provided by the Department of Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
We receive £16,000 + £10 per pupil year 1-6 (as per DfE Autumn Census) and is split across financial years.
For the 2024/25 academic year we received and allocation of £16380.
We use the premium to secure improvements in the following 5 indicators:
Providing targeted activities and support to involve and encourage the least active children.
Encouraging active play during break and lunchtimes
Establishing, extending or funding attendance of school sport clubs and activities.
Adopting an active mile initiative
Raising attainment in primary school swimming to meet requirements of the national curriculum before the end of KS2, so that every child leaving primary school is able to swim.
Swimming
For the 2024/25 academic year, all pupils within our Year 6 cohort met the National Curriculum requirement to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m. Pupils can use a range of strokes effectively and can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
