Willow (Y1/Y2)

“…with God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
🌸Welcome Back to Spring 1! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed spending time together with your families.🌸
This half term, Willow Class will be exploring a wide range of exciting topics across the curriculum.
In English, we will be developing our writing skills by focusing on detective-style sentences. The children will learn how to use descriptive language, powerful vocabulary and correct punctuation to create suspense and write their own investigative sentences and short pieces of writing.
In Math's, we will continue to build on our understanding of place value. We will also be learning about shapes and developing our knowledge of addition and subtraction.
In Science, we will be continuing to look at animals, including humans and we will be exploring everyday materials.
In History, we will be learning about the inspirational nurses Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. We will explore who they were, why they are important and how their work helped to change nursing.
Alongside these subjects, the children will take part in many other exciting and engaging learning opportunities across the curriculum, including art, computing, music, PE, RE and PSHE.
Our curriculum map will give you an overview of what we will be covering across the term.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Miss Kelsall 😊
