Woodpeckers Class 2 2022 - 2023

Mrs Sarginson

Welcome to Class 2 - Woodpeckers

Our Year 2 classroom is a friendly, inclusive environment where we are free to express our curiousity, creativity and enthusiasm for learning.

Mrs Sarginson teaches our Maths and English (Monday - Thursday mornings). Miss Bettley and Mrs Gerrard take over in the afternoons and on Fridays.

When we arrive in the morning, we settle down to our SODA - a maths or SPaG related task.  We do spelling, handwriting and our maths lesson before play time and afterwards we do English, followed by a reading session.  After lunch we enjoy learning other subjects including History, Geography, Science, Computing, RE, Art and Music.  Our dedicated PE coaches join us on Mondays and Tuesday when we come to school in our PE kit.

This term we will be exploring DRAGONS!  'The Dragon Machine' by Helen Ward will inspire our writing and art work.  In Maths we will be looking at shape and statistics and keeping up our practise of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Please bring your home reading record and book in every day so we can change books as required (Mon-Thurs). A short comment from an adult is much appreciated so we know how you are getting on.  We will also keep a separate reading book and reading record for use at school. Aim to read a little every night - 5 or 10 minutes is plenty!

Please bring a named water bottle every day along with a healthy snack or a named purse or envelope with money to buy toast or bagel.

Don't hesitate to contact Mrs Sarginson or Miss Bettley with any queries, no matter how small!  Mrs Sarginson is available before school so please pop in if you need me or catch me for a quick chat at the school gate!  We will endeavour to reply to any emails as soon as possible.
